What trauma-informed treatment means in practice
Trauma is not only a memory. It is a whole-body pattern: an alarm system that stays switched on, a body that braces for danger, and coping strategies that once kept you safe and now cost you sleep, relationships, or peace. Treatment respects that those strategies were adaptive before it asks you to change them.
Practically, this means stabilization comes first. You will have reliable ways to settle your nervous system before any memory is processed. Pacing is collaborative — nothing is forced open on a schedule — and each session is closed down deliberately so you leave regulated rather than raw.
The A.R.O.L.Y.N. Method™ framework
Trauma work here follows a six-part framework Arolyn developed across her career: Assess the trigger and nervous-system baseline; Reframe survival responses as learned rather than permanent; Observe internal experience with mindful awareness; Learn to shift the pattern with EMDR, hypnotherapy, and somatic tools; Yield the survival responses that no longer serve you; and Normalize safety, self-compassion, and stability.
The framework is what keeps a course of therapy coherent when several modalities are in play, and it gives you a map of where you are in the process rather than an open-ended series of appointments.
